Friday

some sketches

P & the book of Z's. An almost-ancient tome that grants a good night's sleep.

I was idly copying a panel from an amazing graphic novel called Daytripper.

It is about a guy whose job it is to write obituaries, and you take a trip through his life, experiencing the many points, the days at which his life takes a significant turn. The many possibilities, the many possible ways and situations in which he could have died at each turn in his life.

And though it's about death, it's just as much about life. It's written and illustrated by two brothers, Gabriel Ba and Fabio Moon.

Monday

I apologise for being MIA for so long, and when I finally do post again, it's old material (this is some visdev work from Sep 2011). Well, at least it's old material I don't believe you've seen before on this blog. <insert placating smile>

We were supposed to design characters for a given story. The story I worked on was about how the vulture became bald. (Excessive pride about his beautiful feathers.)

Designs for the other birds. I laughed a lot at onion bird on the bottom. Sorry onion bird.

Colour/pattern explorations.

The other 'style'.

General style explorations.

Funky 'dos.

This little series of vultures was completely random. I think I was bored.

This doesn't belong here, clearly, but it's here because I realised something looking at it. I realise I like this so much better than another one that used to be my favourite among my figure drawings of this fella. I realise this is better, now. I did some depth-destroying errors around the folds of the right leg though :/

I miss figure drawing class.

Tuesday

sketches at art things!

I did this a long time ago, at the Paris art exhibition at NMS. It was left on a wall there, I wonder if it still exists as a complete page now.

The following four little sketches were done when I had some free time while volunteering at Raffles City. For the Singapore Arts Fest!

This one was interesting. Used a nearly-out-of-ink whiteboard marker on glossy card paper.

Oil pastels, with some scratching afterwards.

She reminds me of someone.

Saturday

Here is a fast sketch of three people looking at something in Chinatown.

Wednesday

Sketchies

Been a long time since I posted anything!

Here are some zoo sketches. And another sketch or two.

Thursday

A small something I doodled a while ago.

Wednesday

after all this time

I present the very first car face sketch. You know this idea I've had for some time, about a series of cars and the faces they inspire? Well this is the photo of the first sketch of that, done a coupla months ago (oops) that I finally coloured on 72 (the trick to keeping from getting bus-sick is earphones).

That one hour going home at night is becoming my sketchbook time.

If you google image 'Vintage Humber', you'll immediately see the bumper-view result I got the sketch from. I couldn't quite get back the same feel in faces...

Monday

Sketchbook 2

Wednesday figure drawing session gestures:

Hands, I love hands (I scanned the better page):

Miscellany from smaller sketchbooks mostly (rough rough stuff...):

Wednesday

Sketchbook 1 (Atrium)

Allo! I'm gonna start uploading some stuff from a recent sketchbook we submitted for drawing class. (And after that, some of my vis dev work.) A lot more love could've been shown and my sketch-fu could be stronger, but this was basically what happened in a short period of time!

Most of this sketchbook is cut and pasted from elsewhere, because I'm so non-committal I quad-time my sketchbooks. These little papers are cut from A6, A5, A4 books and papers of various qualities and colours.

This post has some sketches from the time I spent at the school atrium sketchin' people. I surprised myself actually, then I realised my usual expectations are damn low. Hm.

Not that anybody is really gonna steal these, but maybe I should start putting a watermark of sorts on my images, as a good habit.

I wonder who comes here. I don't really want to promote this site so I feel safe putting up stuff, but then again that means I'm mostly doing this for myself ain't I?

And here is a dragon wrapped in a blanket (again) because we've not seen any drawings of this strange critter for a while.

The scan's a bit blur. If I bother/remember I'll rescan it and repost it again later.
