Wednesday

Been a while...

Monday

Busy lately...here're are a couple of sketches done absent-mindedly during lessons.

Tuesday

Hit bag

This was definitely not what they had in mind when they wrote 'hit bag' on Gmarket but this was what I instantly thought of...

Friday

some sketches

P & the book of Z's. An almost-ancient tome that grants a good night's sleep.

I was idly copying a panel from an amazing graphic novel called Daytripper.

It is about a guy whose job it is to write obituaries, and you take a trip through his life, experiencing the many points, the days at which his life takes a significant turn. The many possibilities, the many possible ways and situations in which he could have died at each turn in his life.

And though it's about death, it's just as much about life. It's written and illustrated by two brothers, Gabriel Ba and Fabio Moon.

Tuesday

sketches at art things!

I did this a long time ago, at the Paris art exhibition at NMS. It was left on a wall there, I wonder if it still exists as a complete page now.

The following four little sketches were done when I had some free time while volunteering at Raffles City. For the Singapore Arts Fest!

This one was interesting. Used a nearly-out-of-ink whiteboard marker on glossy card paper.

Oil pastels, with some scratching afterwards.

She reminds me of someone.

Friday

A little something I was drawing on a cue card on bus 72 home.

One week to the lovely holidays. c:

Wednesday

Sketchies

Been a long time since I posted anything!

Here are some zoo sketches. And another sketch or two.

Thursday

A small something I doodled a while ago.

Tuesday

magnets, cygnets & berets

I wonder what she's looking at.

I think there are certain feelings and subjects I always end up drawing (if you see this, WL, it's not dragons) when I don't start off with an idea in mind. If I managed to keep a sketchbook regularly, I think I would be able to prove it.

Wednesday

snape's mom

Well, maybe. I don't even-

Saturday

colour study!

This is a half-hour colour study in photoshop of a scene from the Iron Giant movie. I think you can tell which one is the original lah hor.

Wednesday

after all this time

I present the very first car face sketch. You know this idea I've had for some time, about a series of cars and the faces they inspire? Well this is the photo of the first sketch of that, done a coupla months ago (oops) that I finally coloured on 72 (the trick to keeping from getting bus-sick is earphones).

That one hour going home at night is becoming my sketchbook time.

If you google image 'Vintage Humber', you'll immediately see the bumper-view result I got the sketch from. I couldn't quite get back the same feel in faces...

Friday

I hate getting bus-sick

Drew this on 72, on the way home from school. (Had to stop because I felt like upchucking.) Taken a liking to sitting the long bus ride home at night!

(Yes, I didn't like my right eye and ya know, eye-pieces are....always handy :P) Never practiced enough of ears, either.

If only I didn't get bus-sick so easily...I could read and draw more during travelling down-time :/ Maybe I just need to invest in some long-lasting candy to suck on and keep the nausea at bay.

I don't know if I've actually improved since I was that nervous girl waiting for an interview, more than a year ago. I should properly look back on my older art one day when I need cheering up. Improvement is invisible yet visible at the same time.

Monday

a little painting

( :B

who's a mean mofo?

Something I randomly did late last night while staring at my makeshift drawing table; didn't take too long. Experimenting with a new brush pen I bought :)

Can anyone tell I've been happily reading Sandman recently? I didn't realise a sort of resemblance till I finished.

I've also concluded that those artists probably enjoy drawing his spunky hair. :D I know I did.

Sunday

snippet

Was trying out some rad watercolour brushes in photoshop. Yes, that's Icky :) He's drawn with a brush-pen.

Happy new year everyone :D

Tuesday

basically how last week has gone

I like the rain on the outside, but when it rains inside...

(Also, the cheapo 9.90 sandals I keep wearing around slip on practically anything when it rains.)

Ah well. [: It will be a better tomorrow.

Saturday

shophouses across the singapore river

Hasty sketch at best, and not very accurate at all T.T I still need lotsa practice.

But there's something about the shophouses which always gets me. I always get this idea in my head that they're living creatures huddling together for warmth, they way they're joined so seamlessly one to the other. It seemed especially true while I was observing them this cold morning, slowly waking up to the possibility of the weekend (and its nightlife).

I didn't realise that some of the buildings around and behind these shophouses have rather interesting architecture.

*ahem*Didn't bother much with the water, obviously.

P.S. It is very 'soothsing and reflreshing' to sit beside the river on a cold day and draw.

Wednesday

more dragons

For a period of time last year I was in a dragon phase. These were the results.

A postcard-sized affair I did for a good friend of mine :P

Me, vandalising the back of a GP comprehension last year. I ended up having to scan the other side to go for consultation, and the explanation was awkward, heh.

Drawn beneath some biology notes. I remember it was about nerve impulse transmission.

I drew this using Autodesk Sketchpad Express, on the itouch. I think it counts as the first digital thingy I ever did :P

fox studies

These were done in March. I originally made them for a short story idea I had involving a girl and a fox (:
